Cake Smash Session – Questions & Answers
When should I book?
We recommend booking your session 2–3 months in advance — especially if you're hoping for a weekend! Our calendar fills quickly, and booking early helps ensure you get your preferred date.
If you'd like to use images for birthday invites, décor, or social posts, plan to shoot 4–6 weeks before their birthday to allow time for editing and delivery.
If you'd rather document them as close to their birthday as possible, we’re happy to schedule just before or after the big day!
How do we book a session?
To book, just fill out our contact form, email contact@husbandandwifephoto.com, or call 913-687-2690.
Your session is officially reserved once the contract is signed and a 50% retainer is paid. The remaining balance is due the day of your session.

We have a variety of props in-studio and can design a set based on your ideas or inspiration photos! You're also welcome to bring your own items to make the session uniquely yours.
Can we purchase additional images?
Yes! After you view your proofing gallery, you’ll have the option to upgrade your collection and purchase additional images.
What should we wear?
Once you’re booked, we’ll send access to Style & Select, our online styling tool that helps you coordinate outfits effortlessly.
Our studio features soft whites, creams, and antique wood floors — a neutral, timeless look that complements any outfit.
What if my child is sick?
We totally understand! If your child isn’t feeling well, we’ll reschedule to the next available date that works for you.
Can I add a bath session?
Absolutely! If your collection doesn’t include one already, you can add a splash bath for $50 when booking.
Do you provide the cake?
Yes — we include a simple naked-style smash cake from Bake My Day in Lee’s Summit with all sessions.
However, if your child has any allergies or dietary restrictions, we ask that you provide the cake to ensure their safety. We’re happy to incorporate your custom cake into the setup.
