Newborn Sessions

There is an unmistakable sweetness about brand new, tiny + squishy newborns that we just love photographing. These little newborn babes stay small for a short time and we are so honored to be able to document their first days. Their little wrinkly fingers + toes, button noses + sweet baby cheeks…These are some of our absolute favorite sessions! Wraps, props, headbands, and hats are provided for your newborn. If you have a specific outfit or prop of your own you’d like incorporated, you are welcome to bring it too!

STUDIO NEWBORN $399

Newborn sessions typically last 1- 1.5 hours with feedings, diaper changes and rocking to sleep. We go on baby time! Shooting this session within the first 14 days of life is ideal! This session is for baby only.

FAMILY STUDIO NEWBORN $499

Family studio newborn sessions typically last 1.5- 2 hours. We start with family photos, move to sibling/parent photos and then go to babies solo shots while allowing for changing, feedings and snuggles!

IN HOME NEWBORN $599

The In Home Newborn session is all about the emotional connection you have as a new family. Photos are taken in a candid/documentary style for all family, sibling and newborn photos. We bring a basket and swaddles to your session. We really focus on lifestyle and emotion for these! Baby may be asleep or awake. Family photos will be taken in the master bedroom, nursery or living room area, or wherever the lighting is best in your home.

Newborn Session Questions + Answers

When should I book my Newborn session?

I only take two newborns a week to accommodate babies coming on their own terms, early or late. This way there is always wiggle room in the schedule! I book out months in advance so placing your deposit sooner is better! Often this is done once you’re in your second trimester. Be sure to reach out to see that we have a newborn spot available for your due date before booking!

How do we book a session?

The best way to inquire is to fill out the contact form, send an email to contact@husbandandwifephoto.com or call 913.687.2690. Sessions are not fully considered “booked” until a contract has been signed and retainer paid. The deposit is 50% of the session fee chosen with the remaining balance due the day of your session.

When will my session take place?

We all know that babies have their own timeline! When you place your deposit we will put your due date in our calendar and have you reach out when you are home from the hospital. This way you don’t have to worry about keeping a pre-set date. We will want to schedule your session within the first two weeks of baby being born if possible. If baby is born early, the sweet spot for photos will go two weeks out from their original due date. This way baby will be in their newborn stage and still sleepy and squishy!

What do I need to bring to my session?

You just need to pack a normal bag as you would for an outing. We will have everything that you need for pictures unless you want to incorporate something special from home.

Do you have props & accessories available in your studio?

We have hundreds of gorgeous swaddles in many colors, over 100 headbands and numerous hats and bonnets to choose from! We also have handmade wooden beds, bowl and baskets to choose from as well. When you reach out to set your Newborn date we have you give us 2-3 colors you’d like us to customize your sets with and have them set out and ready for you to pick from when you arrive!

What’s included in your pricing?

Your session time, the edited, high resolution images from the collection you’ve chosen, a print release and online downloading gallery are all included in your session fee. The deposit is applied to your total balance. You can choose to purchase additional images, more than are included in your package, after viewing your proofing gallery for an additional fee.

How will I receive my images?

Following your session you’ll receive an online proofing gallery via email. From here you can favorite images that you would like edited. Once finalized let us know and we will edited them and return them to you in a final online gallery. From there you can download them directly to your computer and print wherever your heart desires. You can also order images from your gallery. We use a very high quality professional company for those special moments you want to display. Your gallery will remain active for 60 days.

We have an awesome style guide we will send out after booking that will help you coordinate and style your entire family effortlessly called Style & Select!

What happens if we are sick?

If you or your child is sick we will move your session to the next available date that works for you once you are feeling better!
